Trilliant announced on October 20 that Dutch distribution system operators, working under Netbeheer Nederland, selected it to develop and deliver gateways for the Netherlands’ NextGen advanced-metering programme.
The company said the competitive process attracted 25 applicants. Its gateways form part of the DSMR6 metering concept, with an architecture intended to support standardization and interoperability.
According to the announcement, the programme involves all Dutch distribution system operators. Trilliant’s UnitySuite platform is intended to support device and fleet management alongside hybrid communications. These are announced design and delivery plans, not evidence of a completed nationwide rollout.
For distribution engineering, the relevant issue is how metering and communications can accommodate changing technologies and distributed resources. The programme’s stated emphasis on interoperability seeks to preserve supplier and technology choices over a long investment life. Those objectives still require implementation and operational validation.
The next evidence to monitor is the delivery schedule, deployment scope and demonstrated interoperability. The announcement does not provide a completed-installation count or establish measured improvements in network performance.
